Thanks also for the warm welcome.
My meriva only get 34mpg advertised more but done a few tests and it's quite poor for the 1.7cdti.
Road tax is 100 pound more but hopefully worth it

You can see my overall MPG in my sig below. You can expect 28-32 for a pre 2011 Auto, 30-34 for a manual. 2011 plus models manage a bit more. Road tax is highest for mine @ £295. Manuals and 2011 + a little less. Not including petrol i6's of course!

HJi All

Hi All,

I'm a prospective Freelander 2 owner, so have joined to get the lowdown on the car and understand the various models, faults etc etc. Looking forward to owning one; saving the pennies now.

Regards,

Jon

Hi, thanks Bob. Ended up buying a manual 08 XS. Driving it back 150 miles from the dealer today I was amazed at how quiet and smooth it was. No rattles, even quieter than my previous x trail. So far according to the dash its returning 41 mpg. Now I need to clean and wax it properly! So far very happy.

Hi everyone. I just thought I'd pop buy and say hello. I've just picked up my first Freelander 2 and am really enjoying it.
I've had a good trawl through the various boards on here and can see I've come to the right place for all my FL2 info. Very Happy

United Kingdom 2008 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Auto Izmir Blue

Hi fellow forumites, I'm Dave (Kent) and looking forwards to F2 ownership,
currently driving a D2 TD5 and now need to down size,
this will be my 9th motor sporting the Green oval, so I'm no stranger to the characteristics! of Land Rovers,
are there any major problems I should be aware of when buying a F2?

Just a quick post having signed up.
Nearing the end of our first year of F2 ownership and just returned from a trip to northern Germany - great - in convoy with a D4 and Skoda Yeti(!).
Both loving it so far and will dip further into the site when time allows!

Malaysia 2009 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto Indus Silver

Hi,

I've been driving a 2009 FL2 TD4 HSE for the past 3 years. I bought a FL1 for my mum back in 2004, which she replaced in 2009 with my current FL2. She later bought a 2013 FL2 and so I "inherited" the 2nd FL. Am in Malaysia, so weather and conditions are very different from the UK, but I've learned a lot from lurking this site in the past few months, so I thought it's time I finally joined.

Done a few minor mods (mostly LED bulbs replacing stock bulbs), but will be doing a few more as I do occasional light off-roading, and am planning a 5000km 2 week roadtrip to Thailand next Jan, possibly with another FL2 and a Defender.

I've been to Thailand, but not driven there - it always looks impressively chaotic!!
I did some training at Eastnor for Land Rover Experience and when you know what you're doing the F2 can be quite impressive.
For me the biggest drawback is lack of low box, not ground clearance, which can often be overcome by careful ground reading.
Hence why the auto box is better if you do much more than light off-roading, especially with steep inclines.
