United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Manual Stornoway Grey

Hi Rich.

Bit of a difference between a fiesta and a land rover eh? I recently upgraded from a Ford Focus to a 2007 FL2 myself. thought it was going to cripple me financially at one point but it really isn't as bad as I expected. Have you found the same fuel wise ?

Gary

Yea I can't say I've been too bothered about the fuel consumption either. My mpg is about 32. I've no idea what my fiesta could do - possibly a little better, maybe not (it was an old car!). Most of my runs are short commutes but I do appreciate the freelander's economy on the long runs. Drove Leeds to Cardiff and back on one tank, whereas I'd be refilling at either end with the fiesta.

What I have noticed is that where I would routinely fill the fiesta when at the pump, I don't with the freelander. £40-50 each time still me a few hundred miles on the range - like a tank would on the fiesta. Plus, No point carrying an extra 50kg in fuel is there??

United Kingdom 2010 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Auto Mauritius Blue

Hello
Just joined your forum having had a FL2 now for 6 months, 2010 plate HSE with climate/cold pack tvs in back (dogs love watching them) etc etc, previously Audi A5 3.0ltr Quattro diesel, and a nissan X-trail T-spec. (Yes I know not proper off roaders but decent cars) however now have 2 dogs living in the sticks doing the hunting stuff, this is a ideal car for me now and I am really enjoying it and it will be used for the whole purpose of a landrover if I can remember all the dos and donts from a off road course I went on a few years ago.

I have question having tried the posts on it.
I get flashed at quite a lot at nightime with my headlights on dipped beam, which is becoming annoying for them not me, my dealer has tested and said they are fine, I am still annoying a lot of people though, I think they are auto adjusted on start and I don't think that there is a manual switch that I can adjust them down a bit, anyone got any advice please? sorry for the ignorance, I am always learning and appreciate your feedback.

I will post photos of my FL2 when I get the mud off it.

Cheers

United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Sumatra Black

Hello all

Decided to join as my wife has a FR2, which is good as I can borrow it whenever I need to go off-road. Will be making more use of it when we put a towbar on it to bring the grass waster she is buying to shows.

Cheers

Merv

Hi Martin, I'm keen to buy a new Freelander SD4 GS. Any thoughts on which dealer to go to in West Sussex? Who gives best deals and customer service.

Hi all

Not a fl2 owner just yet which I'm looking to change soon. Iv joined to try and get some information and what people think of the fl2. I'm looking to buy a second hand one for about 15k. Iv been looking at a few 4x4 and I think the fl2 would be the best option. I'm in to xc mountain biking and I think this would suit my needs the best. Just looking for information on what to look for and what to avoid and what sort of year/ mileage I would get for my money.

Would appreciate any advice given.

Back to the freelander

Hello, just joined as I'm about to collect my new Freelander. Currently own a Disco2 and some time ago had a Freelander 1. This Thursday I pick up a nice shiny new FL2 in Orkney Grey and I cannot wait.

First modification will be to add roof rails and bars...

Good Evening all, new to the forum. Due to my job I have had a Freelander 1 for 5 years going off road on many occasion to visit various Cells sites etc. Due to the ageing FR1 my company last month purchased a brand new FL2 in Black which was already converted into a van, great, till I found out it was an ed4!!
Anyway really pleased with the vehicle and I know it will not get me places the FL1 did, but sure it will be fun trying!
Regard myself as a very decent off road driver and have been in a LOT of sticky and dangerous situations.
I would really love to hear from any eD4 drivers on how the vehicle handles, not looking forward to the snow!

Welcome Palacio. Tell your employers you need a set of winter tyres. With the right tyres the eD4 should be able to see off most off most softroaders even without having 4wd! They can afford them with the cash they saved by choosing the eD4!

Thanks for the reply Bob. I think most of my visits to the Northern Cell sites will in Summer which will help a lot, not going to risk getting stuck on any marshland like before. I will have a look at what it is capable of doing and get winter tyres when its time for a change. It is the snow I am more worried about, I live on higher ground and the FR1 has never let me down, would not like the neighbours watching me struggle with the FR2.
I will let you know in due course what it can do.
Thanks.
