United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Manual Stornoway Grey

Hi. Not used to forums but just bought a 56 plate HSE after having 5 series for the last decade or so.
Love the car, but have 2 immediate issues.
1. I have slight brake judder from front brakes. Looks like I need new front discs and pads. Anyone else experienced this on a FR2 ? ( car has done 62k with a full LRSH ).
2. Car is running on 235/60 x 18 Continental Cross Contacts, and the fronts haven't got about 3mm left and the rears 4/5mm. I've heard that I should only fit new rubber as a set of 4 as it could affect the diff. Is this the case, and if so what make would you recommend for general use? ( I won't be doing much offroading ). Brian

Hi and welcome!

Yeah..brake judder is usually the discs out of true. This is not a FL2 issue but one that affects all cars depending on how they are driven.

Tyres.....well this is a big subject on which there will be a myriad of views. To start you off here are mine...Landrover specify V rated tyres which are good for up to 150 but the FL2 is only good for 112 unless you have the petrol version and I have H rated tyres on mine which are good for 130. Running H rated tyres gives you a wider range to choose from and they are cheaper to buy but you need to tell your insurance company. I have no desire to throw the FL2 around or drive at 100mph so I find the H rated Kumho tyres on it are just fine with minimal road noise and decent life. You pays yer money and takes yer choice! John

Hi there,

I'm thinking of getting a FL2 at some point in the next 12 months or so. Just wanted to get a feel for things here before I take the plunge. Been a die hard Merc fan for years, but fancy something a little different this time Smile

England 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto Tonga Green

Hi All,

Bought my first Freelander 2 a week ago & loving every minute of it, my only concern is that i've read a few horror stories on the net regarding the engine giving up after 3 or 4 years i own a 2.2 TD4 (07) auto, any reasurance from members would be good for the heart !!!!

Also i will be looking for a quality garage to use when the service is due i live in east sussex so any reccomendations would be appreciated. Bow down

Welcome chaps, Thumbs Up
As for the engine giving up after 3-4 years that's a new one on me, various engine related faults (sensors and the like) maybe but no dead engines.

welcome to the forum and FL2 ownership Thumbs Up

Just remember you won't see people posting about nothing going wrong with their engines - only posts about faults.

And I am very sure you'll find the same with plenty of other makes too Whistle 2002 Honda VFR800

[quote="Martin"]Hi all

Welcome to Freel2.com, the brand new community web site for prospective owners, enthusiasts and everything else related to the forthcoming Freelander 2 (LR2) from Land Rover.

Enjoy!

Welcome. It's a great car and the stop/start feature is great. I get much use out of it going to and from work when traffic builds up. It is epic off road as can be seen on an LR day or taking your own off road. Unstoppable in snow too and I use mine to help others via a 4x4 response group: http://www.freel2.com/forum/topic11201.html
