United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 XS Manual Santorini Black

Hi everyone

This is my 3rd Freelander had one of each model, was impressed with my FL2 until the cold start demon popped up, but I am sure I'll get though it. I also am a vanner, with gentlemans family, the FL2 has been getting me from a to b nicely. But got me bike parked in the garage waiting for the thaw!

Hear from ya all soon

Australia 2011 Freelander 2 TD4 XS Auto Fuji White

Hello to all Freel2 members,

As many others out there I have been picking up some great fl2 info from this site.
Hoping to be a real live MY11 XS TD4 owner around early Feb after placing my order back in Sept10.

Appreciate the info freely given and I like to see that bit of humour out there as well. Whistle

Cheers!

Scotland 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Manual Santorini Black

Hello

Joined this forum some time back and somehow forgot to say hello, so a very late hello from me.

I bought my 2007 Freelander 2 SE in Dec 2008 and have not had a happier car purchase. That said I did cunningly buy it in the depth of a recession when 4X4's were being vilified and credit was drying up, so I've just had two years of motoring with NO depreciation at all. Mr. Green

This is a great wee forum and the hints and tips have been much appreciated. Thumbs Up

I look forward to remaining a smug owner for a good while, especially since it's been 7 weeks since my neighbours could last get down the shared driveway due to all the snow & ice up here in the North.

Hi brightsparking and Welcome.

Where have you had the F2 serviced the last couple of years and what is your experience of local Landrover services? Very Happy

Thanks Macwallace

I've no particular beef with local Landrover dealer servicing - it's just the price. Last time they called asking me to book in for a service they were after £500.

So in the end I either use Perth Garage in Arran Road, or ABC services in Almondbank. Both are good with Perth Garage having the edge on prices but I would highly rate ABC services for a really comprehensive job, but then I do know one of the mechanics personally. He'll pick the car up from the house and drop it off on his way home.... They are a small two man outfit but have heaps of experience on luxury vehicles from before they set up their own business a few years ago

Thanks for the info brightsparking - £500 seems a lot for a service unless something was wrong with the motor.

I understand the Stratstones at Cupar are quite good for servicing. Although the LR Specialist at Aberuthven is excellent along with the Bosch Servicing at Glenfarg. Problem is Warranty of course. I would not like to put that at risk within the specified period. Will have to scratch my head over this one as it is due in March Shocked

England 2011 Freelander 2 SD4 GS Auto Stornoway Grey

I've kinda slipped in without saying Hi either, sorry Sad

After having a shed load of niggling problems with my Audi I've decided to get rid before it starts to impact on my wallet as well as my time once the warranty runs out. I looked at FL2's a couple of years ago when I bought the Audi and decided against it because I was concerned about reliability, kinda ironic I suppose Rolling Eyes So this time I've said sod it and bought what I wanted.

Anyway, I'm currently awaiting delivery of a SD4 GS sometime in the next couple of weeks.

Steve

@Macwallace

Yes £500 felt a bit steep to me too (with nothing wrong with the car............), they did say it included everything, but since the service is more or less a "check" this and that, and just a small bit of replacing oil and filters, well you can make you're own mind up what to do.

There are other posts on this forum giving a service cost around the £350 or less mark and Garages will negotiate.

A bonifide garage stamp should also maintain the warranty regardless of it saying Landrover on it. Unless someone else here knows different, you don't need to get LR to do the service to maintain the warranty.

http://www.oft.gov.uk/shared_oft/reports/c...ft683a.pdf is maybe worth a quick read

If you're planning to sell the car with a whole bunch of LR service stamps them it might be worthwhile, but in my case I'll be holding onto it for a good few years so it will not add much for myself.

Hi brightsparking,

The problem with servicing a car at other than a main dealer is when, or if, you need warranty work. The Dealer will then ask for proof that servicing has been carried out appropriatley and, further, they will insist on evidence that genuine LR parts have been used. This latter point is the most crucial I suppose and the more difficult to prove. Hence within the Warranty period it is more prudent to have had any work carried out by a Main Dealer.
