Not a spaniel, but this is Flame. He's an Australian Kelpie (Australian Sheepdog) now 13 months old. He came to us 3 months ago after his previous owner was seriously injured in a riding accident and was no longer able to give him the attention and exercise a young Kelpie needs. He's in his element up here in the Pennines, and is certainly having a beneficial effect on my fitness levels!

Went to an 'all about dogs' show today that was fairly local to us. Taking a short cut round the back we saw Pudsey, the dog that won Britains got Talent being trained by its owner between shows. Susie wasn't impressed but she did help herself to a drink from its water bowl!

Every Land Rover that doesn't have Border Collies or Labradors needs Spaniels!
Here are my two:

"We're in danger, we've got to get out."
"What are you talking about?"
"I've been called a ponce."

I must be very lucky as she has all three, she's a mixture of Collie, Labrador and Spaniel Smile

Nearly lost Susie today!!!!

So, this week we are staying up on the Peak District area and we visited our favourite place, Dovedale. We had just done a Dovedale to Milldale and back walk and we were at the stepping stones. Susie absolutely loves water and practically swam half of the 5 miles there and back. My wife had just gone across the stones, Susie was swimming back and forth and I had just taken this picture.

Anyway, as I was putting my phone away I suddenly heard my wife screaming and running across the stones. Susie had somehow got caught in the current between two stones, flipped herself over onto her back, wedged herself firmly between two stones with her arse pointing downstream and her head at least 6" underwater! Deb was just screaming and trying to pull her out and I just pushed her out of the way and managed to grab Susies collar and yanked her out. Boy was she one grateful dog, kissing and licking my face as I carried her to the bank. It really shook every her up and when I put her down she just remained frozen to the spot with her tail tucked firmly underneath her. I wouldn't have thought that a dog could get upset - it was as if she knew how close a shave she'd just had. We had to carry her for a while - she seemed too traumatised to move but her ordeal was forgotten after 5 mins or so as I managed to get her chasing sticks back in the river. We're back in the rented cottage now and she's settled down in front of the cooker. Wife's still shaken up though and keeps thinking about how it could have turned out. Lucky day for us all.

Play time

We have had Bailey for 9 weeks now , to say she loves a ball is an understatement. She doesn't give the ball back but runs around like a maddy and I need to throw another.

This is Bailey with her new "toy" , it's a full size football
Do it now ! Your a long time dead !!

After almost 14 year's my best mate alf had to go not only was he a brilliant gun dog but a loyal and faithful friend.as he got older you think you prepare yourself but he went downhill very fast over the weekend to the point he had given up. Gutted is a understatement.
