So as I have DRLs I then have one bulb with the swivel thingy

Exactly.

And they are definitely HB3 in MY2013 on and I'd recommend some upgraded bulbs, Nightbreaker Unlimited have good reviews. Keep the originals then as spares. 2016 BMW X3 30d SE in red
