Ireland 2008 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Santorini Black
Front End Rattle solved

Had a worsening rattle from both sides at the front.
Only on bumpy roads, but it wasn't always there.

Did a search and found this thread on the caliper anti rattle clips;
http://www.freel2.com/forum/topic19345.html?highlight=rattle

Checked mine and they were both there.
Got my local mechanic to put the jeep up on his lift and pry away but he couldn't find anything

Was driving along one day getting really anoyed by the rattling and listening to try and figure out where it was coming from again...and 'PING', sounded like something came off and bounced off the road (Had the windows open).

Inspected underneath when I got home and noticed that now one of the anti rattle clips was now missing.
Fiddled around with the other and there wasn't much spring left in it.

Point is: even if the clips are still there, if they're old and lost their spring, then you will still get the rattling.
Got a new pair 25 Euro!!!, fitted the one that was missing and replaced the knacked old one and all quiet since.

Regards

Chris

Glad to have helped.

Maybe like you say it is an age/wear related issue?

At least it's a cheap and an easy fix!
