Hi, I installed a Bluefin a few months ago and the other day I floored it up Holden Hill (long steep hill outside Exeter) over taking a few cars, 5th gear - just over 4000 revs for most of the way up and then all of a sudden loss of power - Reduced Engine Performance, my LR specialist said the fault code was Turbo overboost and said mostly likely caused by the Bluefin. He recommended phoning them to see if they could edit the ECU map thing so that it was slightly less aggressive.

Phoned superchips this morning and indeed they were very helpful, they said 'overboost' is not something they normally have, they said it's usually underboost. They suggested it might be because I when I floored it, it was because sticking because I hardly ever floor it even on motorways and might just be a sticky something, think he said sticky 'vane' probably because its sooted up which is why it went into reduced engine performance mode. I always thought driving long motorway journeys each weekend would be enough to prevent sooting up but I always drive at 60, perhaps I should boot it a bit more often ? |

they said that the flooring it might have been enough to clear it, my landy specialist recommended putting a few bottles of Forte Turbo Cleaner through which i'll do later today, then try the same hill again next Thursday. They said if it happens again put it back to original map, if it doesn't happen again then they'll tweak it.

It does sound like something sticking. I always run on V Power and never had a single issue in 64000 miles. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come......... |

I used to run on V Power until a few months ago actually, shoved a bottle of Forte Turbo cleaner in the tank today and might go back to V power again after this. |

Aahhh... Holden Hill. Remember it well. When driving to Cornwall I always used to see what speed I could manage up that hill in my Chevette. About 60 if I recall correctly! 2016 BMW X3 30d SE in red

A lot quicker coming down Haldon Hill though, just remember the camera near the bottom. |

Sorry everyone, a bit off topic here, but I thought the hill on the A38 southwest of Exeter was Haldon Hill, not Holden Hill. The A380 up the same hill is known as Telegraph Hill.

Apologies it probably is spelt Haldon Hill, it runs along parallel to telegraph hill southbound,

Back when I was a kid you were lucky if you were doing 30! Now I'm probably having to brake as someone pull out around a caravan or hgv. |

Blew up my TD5 auto on that hill - doing seventy with a lot of people on board and it changed down to second without warning. Head gasket went shortly afterwards, and eventually I had to replace the head! Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone

I stand corrected. Google maps suggests Haldon Hill. I am going back 25 years... thinking now that 60 was an optimistic value! 2016 BMW X3 30d SE in red
