Much better, I like to call a spade a spade Thumbs Up but still a little weak compared to alternatives we have for tractor drivers.

Quite. Or Billy Bunter. Or Biggles. All racist.

Apparently it's even racist to call your dog Didier Dogba (Clarkson yet again).

If it's a fuss about nothing, why are you holding back from saying the word?

Here's what Wikipedia says about the lyrics:

The song lyrics contain the phrase "white Censored ", which usually remains uncensored on radio stations. In March 2013 the digital radio station BBC 6Music played the song with the word removed despite BBC radio stations having played the song uncensored for over 30 years.[7] Costello performed the song at Glastonbury 2013, aired by the BBC, with the phrase uncensored. Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

Let's try another equally nasty one then. Honky. Oh, that one got past the censors. Quelle surprise! Whistle

I remember reading a news story about a DCI who was demoted to a DI by his force after apparently making a racist comment. At a ceremony/event of some kind, someone bought him a model of a BMW car (I assume he was a Beemer fan).

He made the remark "Black Man's Wheel's". Someone complained and he was duly disciplined and demoted. LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

This must have been some time ago because if a police officer said that today he/she would be sacked immediately. One I knew was in a patrol car and made a comment to his colleague about a group of muslim females in full Burkhas crossing the road in front of them. Something like "watch out for the ninjas". No malice or ill intent, but he lost his job.

It was meant as humour, and not the brightest move but in terms of reprimand there is no room for common sense anymore because senior officers who only consider their careers these days want all police to be black and white (no pun intended) but the police operate in a grey world.

half the old folks in our little rural village a terrible racists sort of.
Often they havn't travelled and or met people of other races so rather than these otherwise nice friendly people being racist I like to think its more ' fear of the unknown' for some of them.

One chap I know , speaks terribly of other races, but hasnt met many. infact he has never slept a night out of his own bed and only left Yorkshire once - a day trip to Scotland for a funeral.

thankfully the next generations are more travelled, open and tolerant At work

We're in danger of sleepwalking into 'newspeak' (cf Eric Blair) where the language is diminished to eliminate potential offence. For me, it's in the intent. If someone uses the n-word in a malicious or threatening way, then (s)he needs to be reprimanded. Joshing around with no clear malice deserves a tut at most. To take serious offence at the Clarkson episode is Censored , I believe. There, I think I got away with it... Shocked

Right. We're at newspeak already.

My previous post was censored. I used the word N*GGARDLY !!! ... and it was rendered thus Censored

For f Censored ck's sake, let's not throw out the bloody english language!
