United Kingdom 2014 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Rimini Red
in car camera

Hi all,

I took my night hawk camera out of my previous car when I bought the freelander. My previous was clearly much easier to take to bits than the freelander!

I used the connections on the back of the cigarette lighter to power it in the past but can't quite figure out how to get to it or route the cables. Any suggestions or bright ideas?

Just needs a standard 12v and preferably on with ignition...

Cheers
Paul.

Fuse F5 is ignition live, located in the Fuse Box behind the Glove Box.

I plugged my night hawk into the aux socket in the centre consol, switches off a short while after the ignition is switched off.

I have my Blackvue camera located directly behind the RVM.
The cable is routed between the headlining and windscreen, totally out of sight and down the passenger side 'A' post, hidden behind the rubber sleeve. From there it runs between the carpet and kick plate along the length of the front passenger door, before it passes between a gap in the carpet, under the passenger seat and up into the gap between the passenger seat and centre console, then disappearing into the top of the sliding lid of the centre console.
Ideally I would like it to be totally out of sight and considered drilling a small hole in the bottom of the console to feed the cable through, but reconsidered as I intend to route it through to the boot when I find a permanent live. You can only see an inch of cable as it bends over the top of the console and disappears into the sliding cover "which still closes" before being plugged into one of the power sockets.
No tools req , nothing to remove and job done in 10 minutes Thumbs Up

Mines almost routed the same way, RVM, Headlining, N/S A Post, pull of the Door Seal, down behind the Glove Box, Piggy Back Fuse in the Fuse Box behind the Glove Box.

cheers everyone. I got the cable routed easily and piggy backed the front cigar lighter fuse (cant remember the number).

I'm not too fussed about hiding the camera, infact i would rather people knew it was there - plus it has a big blue led on the front!
