Parking Sensor Module - Replacement Advice

Hi all,

Have spent most of today trying to isolate a problem I have with the parking sensors.

LR diagnostics show a faulty right-rear sensor. This has been replaced twice with a genuine LR brand new sensor with no effect - the fault remains.

Today I have stripped everything down and run a continuity test on all wiring to ALL the rear sensors from the control module in the boot, and have proved that the module gets power at the right voltage at the right pins.

Everything checks out which leaves me with the module itself.

Here is a picture of the actual module from my car:-

From casual searching on eBay it would appear there are very similar modules available. However they have slightly different part numbers - i.e the two letters at the end (BJ on my module) are different.

Does this matter - or do I need an exact part number match?

In any event, when I get a new module, does it need coding for the car? Or can I just plug it straight in?

Any and all help gratefully received!!!

Idea Guessing here, but I suspect there at per two different modules fitted, one for the models with front and rear sensors and one for the models withe rear sensors only Question
Guessing again, if you disconnect the battery before you disconnect, reconnect you shouldn't need recoding.

I agree - logically there could be two different modules for cars with/without front sensors.

However I have found at least four different variants - same part number, but ending in BJ, BH, AH, and CC - and that was after only a few minutes on eBay.

I did find an exact match for mine (ie ending in BJ), but it's from Lithuania, which makes me a bit nervous.

Is it country specific? If it doesn't work, returning it to Lithuania could prove troublesome.....

Just looking for some "what would you do" type advice really...

Smile

I have often seen Lithuanian car transporters over here, loaded with UK registered, accident damaged vehicles that they are collecting over here.
I would get the identical part number, or seek advice from a LR parts department, how much is a new one compared to a used one Question
