Drivers door not locking from fob.

Freelander 2 HSE 2007. When i lock the doors using the remote, a single press of the lock button on the fob folds the mirrors in, indicators flash, all doors lock except the drivers door. If you try to open the door it allows you but the alarm sounds when its opened. To get this to lock you must press the lock button twice. Is this normal? I have read a few posts about similar problems and some mention that fobs can be set differently. As i have been locking the vehicle with a single press of the remote, it looks like i have been leaving the vehicle unlocked unknowingly. Any advice appreciated as i am just a beginner having owned the car for only 2 weeks. Thank you.

Sounds like you need a new door latch, as for locking with the fob 1 press locks the car the second press applies the deadlock function meaning if someone were to break a window they wouldn't be able to open the door by reaching in and pulling the handle.
Other opinions are available. FL2 SD4 Metropolis Auto Santorini Black / ivory completely stock.

It's true that light travels faster than sound, some people look quite intelligent until you hear them speak.

Stop global winging.

Thanks Midlandrover. Rather than a new latch is it worth a quick squirt of WD40? Also as it locks the door with a double press of the fob, would it still point to the latch?

You can try a squirt of WD40, but it's probably the door motor that's failing, it's only a small motor about the size of the motor in a Scalectric. Try a search, there is a thread on stripping out the door, replacing the motor is around £80 iirc.

There is a very recent thread from a member in Constanta (not Alex) who includes photos of the lock strip and motor clean / repair.
I reccomend some more searching on this forum.
.
Kind regards from Fred.

Thank you again Ad. Will strip it down at the weekend, not something I had banked on doing a few weeks after purchase....
Can the Bluetooth be upgraded via firmware as it does not recognise either a HTC one or an iPhone 4s?
It also has adaptive headlights fitted, any tips on maintaining them appreciated.
Thank you.

I have a 2007 HSE and I can get an iphone 4s to sync. Are you sure that you have enough free space, as the LR system can only accept 5 phones in it's memory
No maintenance required on adaptive xenons

Morning Charlie. When I have tried to connect either of the phones it does not want to play. How do you clear space? Cheers.

Any other phones already installed, if so delete them and try again.

Hi Ad, no other phones installed. Just tried again with the HTC One and it finds it but when you push the button to connect it says "Phone failed to connect" instantly. Any ideas??

Have you looked on the LR website to see if your HTC One is on the list of approved phones? I just had a quick look but there are many HTC One variants so don't know whether yours is there or not..

HTC one should be ok.

Some phones connect easier by letting the Freelander find the phone.

Hi Lebouch, The LR website does not specifically show a HTC One for my VIN number, although I have read success stories on this forum for that phone. An iphone 4s should work though...

Hi Ad, have tried both letting the HTC one find the LR and also the other way around. Have tried with an Ipone 4s, HTC One and a Samsung and the instant message of 'Phone Failed To Connect' comes up instantly. Really think it is a fault with the Bluetooth on the LR.
