Iain, I have just looked at the 2 x Scorpions I am changing. Both are dated "2209" which is week 22 of 2009. The car is a 59 plate (from Sept 09) so I guess these are most likely original tyres |

48000 mls !! that's amazing are they on the front or back axle ? reason I ask is my back ones seemed to be worn more than the front, which I can't understand. Iain |

When I took the car, one was on the back, one was the spare. I then fitted my 17" Avon Ranger Ice for the remainder of the "Winter". I refitted the 18" set recently but with the Scorpions on the front - then got the vibration. So certainly, at least one of the Scorpions seemed to have been on the back for 47,000 miles. IME, the fronts show slightly more wear than the backs - understandable, I guess - they do most of the traction and also "all" the steering.

I'll never buy tyres again from a tyre place.

Sorry to hijack this thread - I've been trying to find the date numerals on my Goodyear Wranglers. Can't find them on the outside of the tyre - could they be on the inside? |

The figures will be on the outside, my Wranglers have biggish numbers stating 2213 on their own away from any other info. |

I agree with Mav's view on buying wheels and tyres rather than a new set of tyres. I went from 17" to 18" wheels (including the spare) whilst at the same time swapping 6 month, 8000 mile tyres to brand new ones. Sold the old ones online and overall outlay was about £270. The guy who bought my old wheels went off happy as well. Brilliant. 2016 BMW X3 30d SE in red

Had a good look at mine. Only one of the three has the info '5009' in an embossed area next to the DOT details. The other three tyres have the embossed area but no numbers in them. My car was made in early 2010 so I guess they're the original tyres. |

Have you checked the other side? The date info only appears on one side of the tyre. I thought it was a legal requirement. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone

No, I must admit I haven't checked the other side of the tyres. I'm sure it's there somewhere. I'm waiting for Machine Mart to have more stock of their £50 4x4 trolley jack then I'm going to take the wheels off for a good clean. I'll check then |
