TRANSMISSION FAULT TRACTION REDUCED

I have had this fault show up, in fact the motor is booked into the dealers next week. Not to be confused with the software fault that a lot of us had on startup when the vehicles were quite new at which time the trips also reset-this comes up when driving along. I have found that if you use the terrain response eg switch it to grass gravel snow setting and switch it off again about a minute later the fault clears...for a while.
Suspect I may have a dodgy sensor somewhere, anyone else had this?

United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Stornoway Grey

Hi there,

I have been living with the reduced traction warning for months now, it just toooomuch of a hassle to put the car in to the dealer, so I haven't bothered !!!

As a result of the recent comments about driving in 'sand' mode I have taken to trying that from time to time. That gives rise to two comments, first the car is an animal if you select 'sand' while on road (billiant!) also if the 'reduced traction' warning has displayed and I then select 'sand' mode for a few miles the reduced traction warning clears.

I'm not 100% sure what 'sand' does but I have encountered a few situations where the car has required oversteer correction, I just love oversteer so that is fine by me !!!

I'm at 42k miles and the tyres are still plenty legal, however I have a suspcion that a few thousand miles in sand mode might change that !!! Stornoway Grey GS ... What a fine motor Smile ... but not any more ... Big Cry ... psst look at my gallery!
Company cars ... a thing of the past - May 2013.

2013 Freelander 2 SD4 XS Auto Orkney Grey

John L,

I mentioned in a couple of posts that mine went back 5 times when I had it. Day 1 Transmission fault traction reduced. The stealer replaced a sensor on the rear diff.

2nd-4th time dealer messed with sensor.

5th time dealer replaced whole control unit!

I think it is a known issue so just keep taking it back until fixed.

United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Manual Tambora Flame

Ours has been back twice for that. Allegedly they simply updatedthe software. Not sure but after the second attempt it seems to have been happy. 07 Freelander 2 TD4SE Tambora Flame, side steps, privacy glass, mud flaps, boot liner and a tow bar. Ok it's the Wifes but she lets me drive it occasionally - if I've been good!
