Odd brakes behaviour

Tried to set off at a junction (sloping uphill) today and the handbrake didn't release and a bing sound was heard. Tried again and was ok. Don't know what all that was about

Sounds like the brake shoes got stuck. The noise was when they let go. I would whip the disc/drums off, have a look and clean it all up. John

What no drums, have Landrover redesigned the rear brakes alltogether???
.
Certainly all 2007 - 2010 Freelies have a drum at the rear on the inside and integral with the disc.
.
The Drum is for the Handbrake
The Disc is used with a hydraulic caliper for both the Footbake and the clever 4WD when offroading if a wheel becomes airborn.
.
Kind regards from Fred

I think the actuators are fitted to the rear of the rear callipers, there is no handbrake cable to be seen, just a small wiring harness and the usual hydraulic connection to the calliper.
