Help needed limp home mode.

Hi guys looking for some advice. I have a freelander 2007. I had it serviced 5000 miles ago and after 2000 miles the service indicator came up. I spoke to the garage and they said its prob a glitch and not to bother as they will reset it on my next service. It's now showing 3500 overdue and last night went into limp home mode and shows reduced engine performance on the dash. Any advice would be greatly received.

maybe because it thinks it needs a service it goes into limp mode ?

reset the service schedule indicator and see if that helps.

See this thread for information on how to reset the service indicator on pre-2013 (or is it 2011?) cars:

I don't think, however, that the car will go into limp mode just because the service indicator hasn't been reset. I might be wrong though.

the service indicator is just a mileage or time indicator, it will not put it in to limp mode

You have two issues,

1) a slack dealer who has not serviced your car correctly as they clearly didn't bother reseting the system

2) Something else that is causing the limp mode - lining up to a fault code reader will hopefully tell you why Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Got it on a fault code reader today and the last fault was a fuel pressure fault which they recon is down to the dealer not replacing the fuel filter on the service. This is getting done tomorrow although the car is running perfect today. Also picked up a recurring fault that even after reset comes straight back. Turbo solenoid open which they recon means the turbo is always boosting which can cause big damage. Hole new turbo needed Sad

Mine used to come up with that regular as clockwork & dealer replaced turbo under warranty & still the fault occured . Can be caused by low battery voltage on start up extra earth strap cured that fault to stop the battery voltage dropping too low on cranking.

So do make sure it is a faulty turbo first ! do you have the actual fault code ? Jaguar x-type sport gone

Ah - now thats interesting. On the particularly cold mornings recently, I had a spurious error pop up which seemed to point towards the EGR system valves / solenoids, it self cleared, but logged as a previous error when plugged into the diagnostics. I wonder if the whole turbo related system is quite voltage sensitive. A bit like automatic gearbox are generally the first device on the RR to show errors when voltages start dropping.
