Did you "wiggle" the steering wheel a little when you've inserted the key? |

If the steering wheel is a little tensioned, the electronic locking system doesn't have enough force to unlock the steering wheel. Like on the old cars, when you turn the key you must move a little the steering wheel in order to unlock it. |

Mine did this two weeks ago with the same problem of engine immobilized and message saying "steering column locked". Turns out (for me) a dying battery had triggered the problem so replaced it with a new one. The guy from roadside assistance helped me to reprogram the car with a weird and mystical sequence as follows:

They do. But for that particular error (locked steering) I guess they're assuming that limping anywhere with no steering isn't an option! Unfortunately, when the error is iteself in error... |

Did this fix the problem for good? I've had mine body module replaced for the same error but the problem has returned less than a week later. Wondering where to go from here.... |

There is a software update for the instrument cluster. One of the errors it fixes so I was told by my mechanic is the steering column error message. Maybe worth looking into? Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.

As I said above there is a software update for the error message. Its an update for the instrument cluster. It's said to cure issues such as steering column locked. I don't know if anyone else has had the software update? I had it done as I had a fuel gauge problem. Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.
