United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Manual Stornoway Grey
New modification planned, but it could be a hard one!!!

Has anyone noticed that the American LR2 has different rear headrests to the European spec cars?

Personally I think it is a pain in the arse having the UK spec rear headrests sticking in your shoulders every time you sit in the back.

So the answer is this :-

US spec 'proper' rear headrests. God knows how much they would be from a dealer, so might have to check!

But I think looks a lot better.

Whats your opinions? Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

I suppose with a reverse camera it wouldn't matter that they obscure the view, personally, I think the existing ones are better, Americans will have those to stop litigation when they forget to pop them up when travelling in the back, there 'sue it' culture has designed those IMO.

Here you go :-

I don't think the US versions will obstruct any rearward vision at all.

Yes, but the US won't slide vertically for different people heights, for example kids.
The US are fixed and somehow hinders the rear viewing angles.
LE: I see others say the obstruction thing too...

When I first bought mine I did raise the rear head rests up has they didn't look right to me sitting that low down,,,, but after a week or so I did slide them back down again due to rear view being obstructed
So I think I'm going more towards the UK spec Thumbs Up BETTER looking half of the famous Twinlanders

Wouldn't the US ones need to be removed if you wanted to fold the rear seats flat as they look to stick out too much Question

That would be why the seat backs are lower.

The seat backs are not lower. But a very good point about the seats not folding down.

I checked earlier to see if the head rests I have spare from the front of mine will fit, but the legs are wider in the fronts than the backs. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

Always drive with my rear headrests in the raised position except for the central one. Never had any problem with them obscuring the view, although I only look through the rear window via the rvm. From the look of your comparison photos, I'd expect the American headrests to obscure more of the view.
