I know exactly what you mean, they even get in the way of the baby seat. I find raising them when in use does away with this issue.
I have them in the lowered position when no one is sat in the back.

The # 1 one reason not to get US /Can style rear headrest for your Freelander 2\ LR2.

-- You have to remove them in order to fold the rear seats flat (when carrying stuff). --

... and there is no place to store them when removed!

We had the standard same (low) rear headrest until 2011 (I think) when the US restrictions took effect. Of course Land Rover just added larger headrests instead of doing a proper redesign for our market. The Evoque got came out with them and the LR2 followed.

The LR3/4 (Disco3/D4) has the small 2'nd row headrest in 5 seat models and the larger headrest only in the 7 passenger models

Personally I prefer the smaller (adjustable) rear seat headrests. I have kids so they rear seat is used a lot.

Has anyone noticed that the American LR2 has different rear headrests to the European spec cars?

So the answer is this :-
But I think looks a lot better.

Whats your opinions?

I had a CRV where the rear headrests had to be removed (and stashed somewhere) everytime I wanted to fold the rear seats. That was much more of a pain than pulling up the headrests in the FL for rear seat passengers. I think the larger rests would be backwards step...but each to their own Very Happy 2012 SD4 XS Santorini Black
