Front Fog Lights for GS Model FL2

Anyone fitted front fog light to a GS model FL2. If yes it would be appreciated to list parts required and if difficult to retro fit.

Agreed - I have front fogs but as far as I can recall I've never used them. Headlight beam patterns are good enough these days that fogs very seldom make any worthwhile difference.

I've very rarely used the fogs. So little so that I'm considering changing them to daylight running lights.

@topaz

Do you want to fit fogs because you like the look of them or because you feel you need more light Question
If it's just for the look why not fit a pair but not have them functioning ... Not sure how this would be with MOTs
But I take it you have blanking bezels on you freely at the moment, you could always keep hold of the blanking bezels and fit them back on when you take it in for a MOT..... Whistle BETTER looking half of the famous Twinlanders

Correct me if I'm wrong but it will pass the MOT with the Front Fogs not working, but as I understand it if you get pulled over in a spot check, if fitted they must work. p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior

I believe they are a cost option. Don't they come with the exterior styling pack? (Colour coded mirrors, handles etc)

Fog lights are fitted to my 07 GS. I've used them twice in heavy fog but as said above, dip beam is just as good.

Also fitted to my 09 GS Smile As far as I was aware they were standard - I certainly didn't pay any extra when I bought the vehicle. MY 09 GS manual in Lago Grey, Wood Co arm rest and side bumper strips - now sold.

You are correct Slaneydore, just wanted them as they look good and had them on MY08 freely SE. Also agree with other posts never really used the front fogs. Guess it was a passing thought and maybe I will put it on the back burner for now.

I've fitted them to my MY13 Black Edition. I did this purely for cosmetic purposes as I thought the blanking plates made the front of the car look bland, IMO.

if you are doing it for cosmetic purposes only, like myself you will need to purchase -
1. Fog light housing units
2. Fog lights
3. Bezels

I managed to source mine through a dismantler via e-bay. I bought a badly damaged front bumper but it was complete with the undamaged items as above. I got the lot for £60, a bargin !!!

You can't remove the blanking plates from the front as they are heat tab welded to the bumper. To do this you have to remove the bumper. Used Stanleydore's thread on this which made the job much easier, many thanks.

Once removed you need to slice off the tab welds with a stanley knife and the blanking plates will drop out. You them need to heat tab weld the housing units in place over the locating lugs mounted on the bumper. I used a soldering iron for this which worked very well. I then refitted the bumper, fiited the fog lights and bezels. Job done and very easy to do.

Hope this helps.
