In the top photo, it looks like one of the 'springy fingers' is bent. That would definitely cause slippage. |

The Freelander uses a Peugeot DW12 engine which is built for LR by Ford. The Transit engine is a Ford TDCi Duratorq engine, sometimes also referred to as a Puma engine and is used by LR only in the Defender. |

I though that at first too but on closer inspection you can see that that's not one of the diaphragm fingers - if you look in the bottom picture you can see that it is part of the clutch pressure plate body and there's 3 of those 'fingers'. Is there any oil contamination present?? MY 09 GS manual in Lago Grey, Wood Co arm rest and side bumper strips - now sold.

No everything looks fine. no sign of oil leakage. Could this be down to the pressure plate loosing some of it "umf" so that it no longer grips so well? |

I have just had a very careful look at the pressure plate and there are signs of the moving part scratching. In the first picture there is some clearance around the sticking up bit but three of the six have signs of some rubbing. I wonder if that is enough to stop the pressure plate returning to the "bite" position fully? This looks like a manufacturing fault.
