2013 HSE LUX New to me... Two Issues...

I swear I've searched for both of these and even read the manual lol, but all to no avail.

Last night while driving in the dark I noticed each time the car hit a sharp bump that a light seemed to 'shake' at the front of the car on the road surface. Not the Xenon headlamps I should add... looking in the distance the lights didn't vibrate or shake at all, just something immediately in front of the car. Almost as if something like say the front bumper was shaking and light was being reflected from it. I've checked today and everything seems solid enough but if it's a design fault I would have thought others would have noticed the same thing... anyone?

Second issue... the parking sensors seem to forget that I have them switched on and so at least once a day I have to remind them by switching them on again. Is this normal or should they just stay switched on (switch illuminated) until I switch them off?

Generally speaking, I'm enjoying the car a lot and looking forward to winter lol.

Thanks,

When you engage reverse gear it automatically switches on the rear and front parking sensors and they will then stay on until you reach a certain forward speed or you manually turn them off. If you want parking sensors at any other time you need to switch them on manually.

Never noticed an issue with lights shaking - sorry.

Well, I knew the lights shaking would be an odd one... but as both myself and my wife saw it I'm not putting it down to dodgy eye sight yet Very Happy

Appreciate the answer on the parking sensors and I guess that's where the problem lies then. My previous 3 or 4 cars have all had front parking sensors including my wifes current Honda Accord and without exception they've all switched on when dropping below a certain speed. They've all had a switch too so they can be switched off say in a traffic jam, but if left switched on I've never had to worry about switching them on manually... I guess it's just what you're used to then.

Thanks,

Re lights - check the 2 bolts are in tight & the funny little catch is biting.

Could be bulbs where replaced and the lights where not put back right ?

Howto in the cars manual under bulb replacing....

Lift the bonnet and above each headlamp unit are 2 black hexagonal bolts, check they are tight as I have noticed that the same type bolts above the grille occassionally work loose and are only finger tight.

TOP TIP - If you decide to take out the headlamp units and refit put some thin cloth / Kitchen roll in the gap between the headlamp and the bumper and drape it down over the bumper. I changed by side light bulbs and on one side the bottom of the headlamp unit caught the bumper and left a few light scratches - polished out okay but doing the above would have prevented the problem.

Thanks for the suggestions and I have checked but as I suspected the lamp units themselves or their internals do not appear to be at all loose. This shimmering/shaking I can see near the front of the car I'm certain is the reflection of the lights off something else. It has to be a sharp jolt to cause it. Anyway, I'll keep an eye on it and perhaps one day I'll accidentally stumble across the cause before something falls off Smile
