Black Tie Dinner

I will be attending a black tie dinner on the 25th of January at the Catherdral Quarter Hotel in Derby. It is a law dinner where as well as me and other students and lecturers, there will be barristers, solicitors and even Judge's in attendance. Due to there being more of these events planned in the future, I am going to buy a suit as opposed to hiring one. I will wait for the January sale and don't want anything over the top price wise.

Anyone purchased from here? (seems reasonable): http://www.moss.co.uk/Black-Tie LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

Hi,

I've bought a few, over the years (They tend to shrink without washing Smile)

The last and by far the best was from Bicester outlet village, and a very good price, so if you have a similar 'outlet' near you suggest you try.....not the sort of thing to buy online really, you need to try it on first! good luck & enjoy the dinner/experiance! Kola is the big solid black German Shepherd, Dobbie is.......a breed you've never heard of......yet;)

After the fun I had at the last Black Tie dinner in a kilt, I've said I'm never wearing a bow tie with trousers ever again.

Unfortunately, i have to buy my suits at High and Mighty but Moss Hire is OK though I have had a few problems.

Thanks for the input. I will spend some quality time in the shop that's for sure because if I'm splashing out, I need to be totally happy with the comfort etc. It will be not long after Christmas so I think it will be a case of deploy credit card Laughing LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

Whatever you do, if you hire one, buy your own shirt much better than wearing a hired one, that's had 20 blokes sweating on the dance floor before you in it Wink Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

I bought mine from one of the many 'discount villages' around the country...saved quite a packet and didn't want to spend too much as hardly wear it often...oh and elastic / adjustable waist bands...who knows how porky you'll be in a few years time next time you need to wear it. Worked for me now porkiness has landed.

As above. I bought a good quality one from M&S to go cruising with. They had ones to suit all budgets. I was advised to get the jacket sleeves 1/2" shorter than you usually have them to show a bit of shirt cuff. Got the whole lot from there including shirts and patent leather shoes. I also bought a cummerbund to cover up my washboard stomach. Rolling Eyes
