One of the switches are playing and the car thinks that's something open.

The red light flashing after unlocking is normal behaviour. It goes off when the car is started, so what you are seeing is correct. |

The handbook wouldn't help much with the red light, since it seems to suggest that it should be off when the car is unlocked and the alarm disabled. But in practice it doesn't go off until the car is started - even docking the key doesn't do it. (I've just been out and double-checked to be sure!) |

That's reassuring, I can hand the car back to my daughter now knowing that I haven't "damaged" it and getting the blame for it. |
