Fuel prices

Shell garage up the road from me is my usual port of call and their price for unleaded came down to 135.9 from 137.9. I don't do supermarket fuel but I noticed whilst in Derby at Uni, that Esso were the cheapest at 130.9 Shocked

I duly put a full tank in because Esso are a decent name in the fuel world and yet could beat supermarkets price.

Why is there such a difference from one garage to the next? Locations such as London play a part but does each company such as BP and Shell dictate each garages price or is it down to individual managers? LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

It's a bit of both, my old man used to work for Esso sometimes the oil company owns the site and set the charges, others are independent but tied to an oil company and can vary the price a bit.

PS, I'm very jealous, that's about 15p/litre cheaper than here in the Highlands Shocked

I filled up with Esso last week, haven't used Esso for ages, didn't know they had started doing posh diesel Shocked
Also I think Esso have struck up a deal with Tesco, a lot of the Esso forecourt shops are Esso and Esso will also do the Tesco points.
Just had the price through for fuel from BP for the next week, makes me smile when I fill up at the Services and the pump price is 151.9 and I know we will be paying 136.5 when the bill comes through. Mr. Green p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior
