Bedding in new disks and pads

Our FL2 needed a new set of pads and disks on the front, which would explain the squeaking! I've had a search and there's conflicting information as to what the proper bedding in procedure is, could someone enlighten me please. Disks and pads are original Landrover parts.

2007 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto Stornoway Grey

When i did mine a couple of months ago i just drove it steadily for a while everything just seems to bed in nicely. After about 100 miles i didn't even think about it anymore,the breaks on the Freelander have always impressed me they have a good bite and feel.

just continue as normal, just avoid heavy use of the brakes, (if possible).

If you read the web there are loads of different methods.

Generally I run them gentle for a few miles and then up the game and build some decent heat into the pads through a few 50 / 60mph to slow speed stops , each time upping the brake pedal pressure. After that I just run them normally, every once in a while doing some moderate hard brakes coming upto roundabouts etc.

If you're going to do a brake run , the main factor is to not stop completely after braking. You want the disc to continue to spin while it cools. If it stops dead and sits when very hot you get transfer and binding of material between the pad and disc.

And if all the heat gets soaked up on one part of the disk, it can cause warping.
After a hard stop, always take your foot off the brake pedal Thumbs Up Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.
