There's not much that goes wrong with them. There was a problem with the rear diff whining after around 70-80k kilometres. My 08 model was fixed under warranty. There can be the odd issue with the power steering pump and rack but that was more in the 07 models. You could probably check with LR if there has been any warranty work done. I reckon the SE is plenty well appointed, for me anyway but then I don't even know what the HSE gets you. Whatever it is I haven't missed it. |

I've got a 2009 SE i6 - the difference between SE and HSE then was (a) a better sound system (b) Puddle lights and footwell lights (c) front parking sensors (d) strip of trim on glove box lid and around key slot and light switch (e) 18" alloys as opposed to 17" on SE.

I have just bought a 2009 HSE. I Had a 57 "s" before that. I loved the first FL2 but the HSE is just that bit more refined. I personally think they are worth the extra money. In the UK HSE's seem to hold their value better as a secondhand buy and from my experience are in demand. The good ones seem to sell quickly. The GS and XS are a better buy new in terms of value but HSE for me secondhand. |

If you are looking at the diesel engine be aware they swapped the TD4 engine in Nov 2010. The new engine is more sprightly* and I would definitely go for it if it came down to a choice between the two. *Not a LR term, just my feedback! |

by the way Luckygrizzly, look at the VIN number and try to buy a late 2008 model (that way its a 2009 MY but you are paying as if it was a MY 2008). It's the 6th or 7th digit - from 2010 it was a letter - A - before that it went up to 9 (MY 2009)
