Rear wiper motor

Evening all.....

My wife's rear wiper on her freelander 2 has stopped working recently....

Fuse is ok and there is a supply to it when the wiper stalk is operated, I stripped the little gearbox and found this to be seized with rust and hard grease, there is some damage to the plastic drive cog, I have cleaned the internals and freed it off so it now operates but I suspect the motor could be faulty........looked on ebay for a replacement unit and they are £100 +!!
Anybody know if this unit is used on another vehicle??? Or where to try and source one cheaper?? I will investigate further tomorrow as I ran out of time tonight incase it is repairable but any help in the meantime is appreciated Thumbs Up Black FL2

Found it now thanks

Cannot believe a similar unit can be less than a 1/4 of the price and be virtually identical to the Freelander one! Black FL2

There was a big rise in LR parts a few weeks ago, a lot of parts had 40% put on over night. Sad p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior

Why was that??

Seems crazy as its not worth anymore as its virtually identical but I guess the mounting holes must be slightly different hence not being able to interchange them.....I'll test the little motor out tomorrow Black FL2

Shocking!

I know the wiper unit must be used on other (cheaper) cars but sadly the Valeo part number on mine is not very clearly printed Big Cry Black FL2

2011 Freelander 2 TD4_e GS Manual Lago Grey

My one on my FL2 MY11 ( now gone!) was changed under warranty. The driver who gave me a lift from dealership back to office told me they were on average changing one or two rear wiper motores EVERY week. Clearly the part is rubbish! I am afraid there seems to be little built in quality in these vehicles. Sad!

Second hand success

Having run without the rear wiper for 18 months (only forward wipers count in the MoT) after refusing the dealer's £140 part plus £60 fitting charge, I stumbled across a used motor on ebay for £40. Fitting it (I'm no mechanic) was an absolute doddle so problem solved for £40 and 15 mins of my time. Maybe there will be more pattern parts and 'scrap' sales as the Freelander 2 is discontinued?
