Any experiences with Lightroom. Specifically, for the casual photographer, is it worth the ££ ? Or is it really aimed at the pro / semi-pro?

Cheers! ...

From what i have seen of lightroom it is a great tool for editing photos, amateur or pro

I have been keeping a eye on the launch of the latest Lightroom 5 and i think i will add that to my collection as at the moment i use Photoshop CS5 Pro, which can do about the same, but I think LR will help me bring out more Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

I use Apple Aperture and Lightroom 5

I've used Lightroom 3, 4 and now 5.
Basically, I really don't need anything else with Lightroom 5. I prefer the Apple Aperture work flow but some of the capabilities in Lightroom 5 are better. Highlight recovery for one thing. The noise reduction is also good although I don't like the way Lightroom sharpens.
Adjustments are easy and there is a huge wealth of youtube clips which show you how to do anything.
For what it does I really don't think it's a lot of money.

quite like the straightening on LR5, corrects the perspective, straightens horizontals/verticals by a click of a button, which i hope will benefit me at work for interior photos Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Lightroom 5 is a great bit of kit.
If you need to process lots of images it can transform your workflow & shave hours off the time needed.

These days the only time I fire up Photoshop is if I need to edit an image... All correction, tweaks, crops & "spot" fixing is handled purely in LR.

I love LR and will say on the face of it you think its simple.... Its not.

Loads you can do - Presets are every where - some good some bad... some free some you pay for.

Best feature is lens correction which is handy for buildings etc..... ( no wonky lines ).

I prefer Photoshop but Lightroom is really good, there are plenty of tutorials on AdobeTV and YouTube on how to get the most out it.
