Getting itchy feet!

As many know, I have owned our FL2 for nearly 6 years now, and although it has been a perfect car, in near on perfect condition with loads of extra's etc. I am starting to think "should I upgrade it to a newer one"

Should I buy an 11/12 plate SD4 HSE and have a car that doesnt look any different inside or out? But will be newer with less miles? Logic should say that I should wait until the 2013MY HSE / HSE Lux model drops below the £30k mark as at least then I will see a lot more changes in a replacement.

The residuals on mine now have about bottomed out which is good as she will not really lose much more money over the next 12 months or so, but £14k to £14.5k is achievable with mine based on other cars of similar age and mileage to mine currently being sold on the market.

What do you guys think? Wait a short while and change to a 2013 model? Or just keep mine?

If mine was an Auto it would be decision made, and keep it for good!

I kind of like the Volvo XC60 D5 as well! What are your opinions of the XC60? Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

Well, if your happy with your car, keep it. But if you want to change it, go for it! Your car looks brilliant and it looks a lot newer that it is. Maybe wait until 2015? I'm not sure. You have done so much work on that car, do you really want to start again?

I test drove the XC60 before buying my FL2. A really nice car, liked the interior and drove nice ... but I found it a bit boring and felt too 'family' for me Rolling Eyes FL2 2011 SD4 XS in Galway Green

I agree, Volvos are great cars, but as you said they are a bit boring. It's the same with the VW Golf for example, good cars, but a bit boring unless you go for a high end model like the GTI/GTD. I'd rather just have a Focus. It would be sad to see your FL2 go, but if you want to change it, go for it! Thumbs Up

If you want another Freelander, myself, would be tempted to hang on for the replacement rather than change to the a newer MY12. My original plan was also to wait for the replacement, but things change Thumbs Up p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior

Lots to think about. Another FL2 is at the top of the list, but it would have to be the 2013MY. Nothing is set yet, but nice to gain the opinions of others. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

I went to stratstones priced a sd4 hse lux .then went home build an xs up to same spec on land rover web site turned out to be 2k cheaper. Told stratstones this and all they said was you'll get less for it when you come to exchange it. I intend to keep car for five years so don't think it will make that much difference Phil...

IMHO
Stick with what you have got unless you can afford to loose all that money you have spent keeping it up to date over the years. I cannot comment on your values of £14k /£14.5k

You know your motor inside out and it has been reliable, you could spend a lot of money to update to someone's Friday car like I did Smile and regret it for a very long time to gain what?
Your motor is virtually the latest look, apart from the engine and only you know it is a 6 year old model, the average person would not know its true age.

My wife cannot see any difference between a 2006 or 2013 apart from maybe the colour Smile

I would consider it when they do a proper model change as the previous models can loose £££'s
Only my opinion.

The 13MY is a step up from your car but you've had it this long you may as well see it out to the next model. Besides you still have the 14MY mods to add to your car. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

For once Stratstone are correct, it doesn't matter how you spec up your XS, come to sell it is a still an XS, all the options you add don't really add any value to the selling of it, just makes it a bit easier for the Dealer to move. The HSE I traded in had £4k of options added to but it was still just an HSE when it was traded in, I didn't get anymore for the Factory fitted options. p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior

If you feel you would like a change I'm sure its only you who can decide if you do or not Mav
Your freely is the best one I have seen on that plate and I'm sure it would be a big step to sell it after all the work you have done
But if you feel its time to move on I think only you can make that decision BETTER looking half of the famous Twinlanders

Some good comments here, and to be honest as I have had it for 6 years, does another 18 months make a difference and then wait for the new model?

Another option would be to splash out on mine and freshen it up again!

I reckon that if I buy a 2011 model for say £28k, in 18 months when the new model comes, it may be worth £24/£25k. So a £3k to £4k loss.

Mine will not depreciate by £3/£4k in 18 months, so I could spend a couple of grand on it and lose less money.

If I keep mine, I am tempted to add the Dynamic styling pack, he the bonnet painted to get rid of the stone chips and then do a few other bits.

The other important thing is that the Mrs still loves it, as do I. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........
