I can honestly say that my last car never exhibited this issue (MY11 SD4), my new car does it all the time, as have the loan cars I have had, it must be one of those " characteristics" that we are told about.

That sounds just like my 47,000m HSE - a "shush-shush-shsh-shsh-shsh" noise. It seems to come and go. Normally I drive very sedately and the noise is audible when the radio is off. However if a drive the car more enthusiastically for a while the noise seems to stop for a few days, then gradually come back. Pete 2007 TD4 HSE Auto |

Had a similar issue with my 07 diesel auto, like someone was yanking on the handbrake during auto box upshifts. Did this for about 40miles of driving till i could get it home, was going to change oil in the box first as car felt sluggish when booted, thought there was just some slip due to old oil ( car has nearly 80k miles on clock and has been used hard last couple of years) Forgot about it and jumped in to take the mother in law home, 12 miles later pulled out of a junction and no power, dash board warning saying i had restricted engine performance. Got car home and hooked up the ipad and diagnostic app and went to the top of the road, boost pressure went max scale at 1.7 bar and could hear dump valve like noise when lifting off the throttle. Bonnet up and under tray removed had a good poke around, found the little clip just below the red arrow head in the quoted pic had gone and the actuator arm had disconnected. Rummaged around the magic box of odds and sods in the shed and found a suitable e-clip. Reconnected everything, went for a test drive and all was good. Worth checking if anyone experiences similar issues as a replacement clip is under a quid. |

This is the type of clip can't remember the size off the top of my head but if you contact a local turbo repair company they'll be able to help.

No problem, hope you get to the bottom of it and it's a nice simple fix. |

I am having same problems with my 57 HSE. Reduced engine performance etc. I have looked at the Turbo actuator arm and the clip looks to be there but the arm doesn't seem to move. Should you be able to move this manually and if so what direction does it move e.g. pivot around where clip is? |

You need to remove the connecting arm first to be able to test for movement, it should move freely.
