just read that someone twittered a hashtag #nowthatchersdead

it was taken by some Americans as "Now That Chers Dead" and they thought the singer had died Laughing Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Now that would have been a tragedy Shocked

As for Maggie, never liked the dictatorial woman and my views have not changed now she's dead.

A funeral is a ceremony for celebrating, respecting, or remembering the life of a person who has died, so anyone not wanting to do that should just stay away.

Hmmmm...

...

I not going to argue for or against MT's legacy, since I don't believe for a moment that any argument put forward now will change anyone's opinions (which will be pretty well ingrained by now) of the woman, her policies or decisions. Like many people she wasn't perfect but, unlike the current anodyne crop, she was a leader, not a follower and didn't pander to the popular howl.

Not saying she was always right but she certainly got a lot right

One thing the left always gets wrong is the "free" tag when our government decides to spend our money on something. Free milk was paid for by taxpayers whereas childrens' nutrition should have been paid for by their parents. What has the cost of food and drink got to do with the budget that's agreed for education? The spend on education didn't go down when the milk provision was stopped and so it was spent where it should always have been - on educating kids rather than feeding them. If you can't afford kids, or aren't willing to support them, then either don't have them or give them up for adoption.

Margaret's philosophy was that we should all be responsible for our own actions and, wherever possible, pay our own way. That's why the benefit generation hated her. The Unions hated her because she had the unpopular (to them) idea that democracy was important. Although I despair of her decision to close down our coal mines I applaud her taking on of Arthur Scargill - who bleated on about his mandate to call the strike but never allowed "his" members to vote on it.

As with most things our entrenched lefties do, I fully expect them to show their true colours next Wednesday by attempting to disrupt the funeral. As a general rule those who demand that others "respect" them don't show the same themselves. Ours - 2008 Stornoway Grey HSE Auto

Your quite right, all my family were miners. Arthur Scargill in my eyes has alot to answer for regarding the miners strike. Maggie is getting alot of blame for things that have happend in the past. I think Labour have to take some of the blame as surely Blair/Brown could have made changes when they were in power but they didnt.

Only today the Labour council of Barnsley are refusing to fly the Union Jack at half mast because of what Maggie did in the past, I wonder if they will make the same stance when Blair dies, after all, he took away the 10p tax rate, took us to war, lied about the referendum on Europe.

At the end of the day wether you like her or not, a former leader of great Britain who had balls and called a spade a spade has died and I believe she should be given the respect she deserves. Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.

I am too young to remember what was what back then but I have read things and heard things. The simple FACT of the matter is this: It does not matter whether you praise her or celebrate her death, shout "burn in hell" and say that she ruined things etc etc, because no amount of verbal battles on the net will make a blind bit of difference to what happened decades ago. Don't waste your energy; grab a snickers!

In my unbiased capacity, I can simply comment on the one thing I have watched a few documentaries on; The Falklands War.
What I liked was the fact that the Argies waded in and took control and probably sat there smirking and thinking we would have no choice but to negotiate. Sod that! Thatcher orders a Naval Task Force to go and bomb the sh Censored t out of them.
