Australia 2011 Freelander 2 SD4 SE Auto Ipanema Sand

Picked up the Freeo from an auto trans specialist. I did a part-change of the ATF but no improvement with my loss of drive problem.

Turned out to require a valve body replacement.

Will find out after Covid lockdown whether it's completely fixed. Certainly hope so. MY11 SD4 SE Auto

250 mile round trip in appalling rain and motorway spray. Picked up a puncture on the way down..no spare. Limped to nearest kwik fit and they put on the only suitable tyre that had...a £200 conti Cross contact UHP e !!!
Then on the return journey the dreaded whooshing and restricted performance warning. Finally limped home 100 miles @ max 55mph 3 hours later.

Passed the MOT Thumbs Up however it seems there are some issues that came up that will no doubt be costing me a few pounds in the next six months - replacement turbocharger, replacement EGR cooler and valve, osf lower suspension arm, power steering rack leaking, rear pads . . . . oh yes, nearly forgot, there's the annual service on top Laughing
The day started well Wink

England 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Manual Zermatt Silver

had a blast down to the Dales yesterday from Durham, Richmond then Reeth and all the way through Arkengarthdale and up past Keld and Angram and Thwaite and over Buttertubs Pass to Hawes via Hardraw, the car turned 168,000 on the run, pulls like a train. I seem to drive it these days as if its a Mini Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter yet after this 100 mile run it showed average mpg as 35.5 which isnt too bad. I must have seen about 15 freelander 2s on the trip. Must admit they all looked fairly bland compaired to mine Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter 2017 SEAT Ateca 4drive 2.0 xcellence (May 2022 -

Sorry to hear.

I thought my Sister was is a bad way, but she is still kicking... Sort of... Broke both legs in a fall at home.

I couldn't help it & said: 'To lose one leg may be regarded as a misfortune; to lose both looks like carelessness!'

I am still alive!

At least she has had both Covid injections & will not die in hospital from Covid. I only had my first this week.

Anyway, I drove around to drop off shower chair etc when she gets home. No hospital visits allowed.

Haven't been in the car for months due to lockdown. It's nice going for a drive. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Replaced both driver door lock actuator motors. It has been playing up for a while, taking several presses of the fob to unlock. All back together & working properly again. Will do the l/h passenger one next as that plays up occasionally. (Now Sold). 2008 Freelander 2 (Nazca Sand) SE TD4 Auto. Statutory write off & on WOVR for hail damage but still road legal.

As I had time today, I did the same for the l/h rear door lock actuator. It’s just as well I’m not a sound buff, the drivers door speaker was in a similar condition, just age I guess.

@RogB, did they charge individually for all those items? If so, I’d be querying how they can charge for front & rear diff oils & transfer box oil! (Now Sold). 2008 Freelander 2 (Nazca Sand) SE TD4 Auto. Statutory write off & on WOVR for hail damage but still road legal.

United Kingdom 2010 Freelander 2 TD4_e HSE Manual Barolo Black

@RogB and presumably only partially changed Haldex fluid in situ, otherwise why not fit a new filter and clean pump filter / screen whilst the Haldex was removed from the vehicle. Sounds like an expensive week Big Cry

Fitted new glow plugs and removed the swirl flaps from the inlet manifold. Not too difficult following Nodge 68's great guide ( thank you) and the manual. Forgot to reinstall the electrical connector next to the egr pipe at the rear of the engine, so initially got code p1545, but all good now Rolling Eyes .

New battery waiting to go on ( see my thread ), then all ready for winter !
