2007 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Manual Zermatt Silver
Newbie Advice

Hi all,

Just found the site and thought I would post and tap the knowledge of the forum.

I am looking at getting an FR2 over the coming weeks - in fact I have selected the car I want and am going to the dealer this weekend to (hopefully) do a deal.

I was originally looking at a new car but this ex-demo looks to good a deal to pass up. Anyway the model I am going for is a TD4 HSE it has xenon's and privacy but my question was what mod's are the forum norm following purchase ? I did look at the premium pack on a new car and liked the look of this so was thinking about having the black molding body coloured and also getting the rear spolier - cant justify the cost of the wheels not with my parking skills.

So any suggestions ? Also can you recommend a site for accessories - I need a dog guard and some other bits.

Thanks in advance and hello again

I would look at the dealer throwing the dog guard in as part of the deal along with Mats (rub or carpet depending on your lifestyle) rubber boot cover and a full tank of fuel

Then look at things such as

Clear side indicators,
Mirrors Caps, (chrome or body coloured)
upgrade the interior lights and boot to LED bulbs (the OEM are quite dull)
Mud Flaps (if you like the look of them)
Then look at side steps/bars
Rear Spoiler finishes it off nicely too

Its mainly down to personal preference, some prefer to keep it stock or just tweak a little.

I would look through the members gallery, there are standard and modified FL2's in there. Thumbs Up Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Get your spolier from ebay. They pop up with increasing frequency. If you want the full body kit then go for it - you are in Essex after all! Thumbs Up

And then upgrade your oil and put two stroke in your diesel if you believe YamahaFans posts on the subject.

I do... '57 GS TD4 in Stornoway. Privacy, Leather, Tred Cills. From ebay etc.. 18" 12 spoke HSE alloys, rear spoiler, clear side repeaters with clear leds, led interior light to replace bulbs, sports exhaust trim, TomTom 720.

First thing that I did was to replace the orange indicator bulbs with philips silver vision ones, removes the fried egg look from the car.

There are spoilers that come up on ebay that are just the primed version, but i have seen lots more which have been posted on there which have already been painted popular colours Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

2007 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Manual Zermatt Silver

Thanks to all for the advice and the links

Well I have taken the plunge and bought the car I mentioned above, managed to get a great deal on my trade in and on the new one. The car I have bought is an 07 HSE ex-demo has done just over 4000 miles in Silver with Adaptive Xenon's, privacy glass and black side tubes. Managed to get the boot mat , dog guard and years road tax for just over £26k.

Hopefully will be able to pick up in the next 2 weeks. There is a slight delay as I have asked the dealer to colour code the black trim at the bottom of the doors on both sides, I just thought it might 'tidy' the look a little so we will see.

Anyway I have also gotten the black and silver badges for the front , rear and wheel centres but I was just now wondering if anyone had found anywhere selling replacements for the smaller ones on the rear pillar ??

I will be ordering my clear len side indicators (thanks for the tip npicks and Cypress) soon and then I might just keep an eye out on ebay for a rear spolier.

I did look at the body kit and does look nice on certain models but I have left those days behind me (to a certain degree) when I sold my white XR2i - well I do live in Essex !!!

Anyway again thanks for the advice welcome - guess I just need to change my signature now.
