trailer control

I have a witter fixed towbar which electrically works fine all lights ok beeps in boot with indicators etc
But the trailer light on the dash has never illuminated?
Is this something I should worry about? (Dont even know what the trailer control thing is? Would like to know)
Its an 07 only had it 6 months and not towed with it much
Martin

Sounds as though you have not got the genuine LR Towing Module fitted, hence the trailer indicator light not working, as you have the beep in the boot this points to an aftermarket kit fitted.

i have a witter towbar fitted to MY12 and the trailer light works might be the person that fitted it did not get it plugged in to let the car know a tow bar is fitted or someone has spliced the wiring into the wire-loom 1995 P38 now dead

But if you have the genuine electrics you don't have the indicator beep as you have the trailer indicator light?

Genuine can be a third party dedicated wiring loom, not necessarily LR derived.
If your trailer light on the dash works then you have a dedicated loom etc, not a relay bypass unit.

You have the beep or the indicator warning light, the OP has a beep as the warning device so no indicator warning light.

cg i do not think i will need to do that, had a x-trail before and had no issues with towing so i am sure my fl2 will surpass. Cool

Does the trailer stability assist only work when the fl2 picks up the trailer/caravan is connected via the electric plug? So not if the trailer dash light is not illuminating?
Cant find much about this tsa on the web?
Cheers Martin

Yes, when you connect the light plug, the indicator would flash on the genuine LR electrics, the rear fogs on the towcar would be disabled, on a manual that's about it, on an Auto it will hang on to the gears a bit longer, it has been said that changes to the brake system are made but the jury is still out on that one..

On the non genuine you would normally just get the beep for the indicator warning.
