Ah well, back to the dealer ... Reduced engine performance

Last night and this morning, reduced performance errors and MIL light on

Error codes p0046 and P2263 ... Turbo errors. LR Assist were very quick , but said it needs to go to the dealer... Ho hum.

Good thing was my elm327 cheapo eBay special read the same codes from the car.

And to add to the insult... Dropped my new iPhone ... Smashed Big Cry

Sorry to hear of your problems. As for the iPhone, it is quite easy to replace the screen and cheap.

iphone 4/4S yes - cheap
iphone 5? not so cheap Sad

FL2 dropped off at the dealers this afternoon. Given an SD4 Evoque auto ... its better than I thought it would be. very nice car to drive.

well, 1 week on and my car is still at the garage. Been told that the turbo seized up, and not the actuator arm. So the garage said that they have to get advice from Land Rover about it.

Anyhows ... having been driving the Evoque for a week now my current thoughts are ( compared to my FL2 ):

- Its so quiet at speed, and you feel like your going a slower than you really are.
- The ride is very good, even on 20" alloys.
- The auto is better that I thought it would be, but I still think I prefer the manual.
- The leg space around the driving position is fantastic ... way better than the L322 Range Rover was.
- The dash/interior finish is brilliant - if they could put that material type finish on a freelander ...
- I really like the hands free key. Walking up to the car key in pocket and touching the door handle making it unlock is fab.
- The rear view camera setup is useful
- the dual view screen ... waaay to clever!

but

- Its just that little bit smaller than the FL2, and I miss that - esp when I have a 9mth old boy.
- You can't see out the rear half all that well, and the space is reduced.
- The bonnet on the Fl2 is nicer to look at !
- The surround cameras are a gimmick ... too fussy to enable them on the screen which means it takes too long to get them going, by which time you don't need them.
- The Meridian sound system isn't all that good in terms of sound quality I don't think.
- The whole touchscreen interface is too distracting to use whilst on the move. I notice I spend too much time looking at it to do something.

So whilst its still a very very good car, I'm not 100% convinced that I would pony up for the extra gadgets that it has.

I kinda want my own car back now. Confused

Fisha, I have my iPhone 5 insured with insurance 2 go. £69.99 a year and that covers theft, loss and accidental damage. Value up to £700 I think. Mine is the 16gb so well within that.

I agree with you on the evoque bonnet. Because you don't see half an acre of metal from the drivers seat somehow you don't feel as high up.

I liked the interior - right upto the point when I found the switch to change the mood lighting and door sills from blue to red and noticed the puddle lights on the door mirrors project an image of the evoque onto the ground.

Someone had far too much time on their hands in the design department ! _________________

To me, I can now understand the dealers comments that the freelander was riding a wave the evoque created. People would compare the two side by side and see they were getting more out of a fl2.

Dealer says it'll be middle of next week... Discussions going back and forth about turbo vane geometries

The Evoque is quite nice to look at, but for me it's too blingy and too small in the back to be of practical use.

ouch,

if it is just the glass is broken, and the LCD / digitizer still work, than that's a cheap repair.
flea-bay is your friend.

I have done several iphone 4 screens - just folow the youtube video's.

easy.

I might try and ask, but I don't hold much hope. The screen is all a single unit, so can't just replace the glass only, hence the cost. I'm not overly fussed just yet, I'll wait till the prices drop a bit yet.

Car won't be ready till middle of next week. So I'll enjoy the evoque a bit yet.

Got my FL2 back, new turbo fitted. ... ahhhh good to be back in it. Soooo much bigger than the evoque, especially in the rear half.

Immediate thoughts on comparing the 2 going from the evoque to the Fl2:

- the FL2 bonnet is nicer to look at.
- I actually think the Fl2's seats have comfier bases.
- I'll miss having somewhere to rest my left arm.
- The evoque's steering weight is definitely better with more 'feel'
- I think overall, I prefer the manual gearbox, tho i was very impressed by the auto.

Would I buy an evoque? ( even second hand in a couple of years.. ) ... not as a first car. its just too small.

Its been good to have it for more than a test drive, and its scratched a big itch, but just confirmed I made the right choice in getting the FL2 this time round.
