Found pics that show that the black plug is for the hand brake shoe adjustment. Do I have to loosen the hand brake/park brake shoes to get the rotors off? |

Great, I had it to that point. Didn't think brute force was the solution. |

It's always the solution. |

Make sure the handbrake shoes are backed off all the way before trying to remove the disk (Nice to hear from someone in Halifax NS. I lived in Lower Sackville for three years). |

I was wondering if I had to do that. How do you know how much to tighten them when you are putting them back on? |

There will be a topix on it , but a rule of thumb, is to adjust up till the disc/rotorwont turn then back off till the disc turns freely, do both sides then check handbrake for travel, if too much travel adjust up a tad more,

I used a metal bar between the disk (rotor) and the caliper mounting points to give a bit of leverage while pulling on the opposite side. They can be difficult to remove. |

It may not be the case but, there may be some threaded holes on the disc that appear to go nowhere these allow you to effectively jack the disc off . |

Finally got it yesterday. Drivers side park brake adjuster was stuck. After some lube and a good beating it came off. Total time 5 hours or so. I had it apart twice.
