Can anyone reccomend a cheaper sat nav? Now the sales are on there looks to be some good deals about but the reviews put me off some of the cheaper tom tom ones. I've got 100 quid to spend and was told by a fella that fits in car electrics that tom tom are the best ones to get. I dont need anything fancy, just a reliable one thats easy to use to get me from A to B.

Another vote for the Tom Tom. I have had both the Tom Tom and the Garmin equivalent and much prefer the Tom Tom for ease of use, mapping and software quality. Both are the wide screen jobbies and both fit nicely into the cubby hole on my GS where the factory fit one goes on the posh Freelanders but I find that too far down from line of sight so I put it on top of the dashboard. I have a flat tacky mat fitting which it sits securely on top of the dashboard and does not need anything stuck on the screen.

Vote from me for TomTom too. yes the map updates and speed cameras stuff costs extra but so far I've found them to have the best data and systems. |

Always wondered, but in walking mode does it avoid the motorways? "In 100 yards take the slip road" |

I've been reading reviews about tom tom and alot of people are saying they have trouble updating the maps. I've seen a few good deals with free map upgrades for life but then reviews of said tom tom say the map upgrade killed the tom tom! Other than that tom tom seem ok. Anyone had problems updating maps? Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.

Personally no I haven't had a problem updating maps - and I'm on my third tomtom over quite a few years now. |

Have had Tom Tom for years -very intuitive and easy to use. Spent a lot of money on a Garmin for the motorbike and it is rubbish - difficult to use, the routing can be random and it will take you off a dual carriageway and straight back on again.

Well I picked it up today from a high street store that sounds like Indian food (dont know if I can mention the store name on here) its a tom tom start 25 with western European maps, free map upgrades for life. Penny short of 100 quid. The only bad reviews it had was on the map updates over the net, usage wise the reviews are very good. will try it out at the weekend.

I've used and abused TomToms for years. From a 700 to a 900, 910, 920, 940 and then a 1005.
