2013 HSE, rear camera retrofit.

Hi, I have a 2013 model HSE.

Having had it a couple of weeks, I think a reverse camera might be a good idea.

Can this be retrofitted to use the car's screen?

Is it going to cost the earth?

I'm guessing there's not a lot of people with the my13 cars who have been tinkering

I thought revering camera was on a HSE? Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

We reverse park the car onto the drive from a narrow road with lots of parked cars.

Because of two big brick gate posts, I have disabled the reverse mirror dip function, as the mirrors are needed to see behind. Thenew dog crate restricts rear vision.

A camera would solve the problem.

I have contacted a main dealer who says it cannot be done.

Good news and bad news from our local auto electrical company.
It can be done, the camera fits in the rear number plate light (with light) or cut into the space adjacent to the light housing.
The picture appears in the dash screen when reverse is selected.
Bad news is the price, in the region of £400.
I am awaiting a firm price for my 62 plate HSE.

Done it on another LR, not a FL. It required a new tailgate microswitch, rear loom, FAKRA, camera and quite a bit of work dismantling it and replacing parts - 4 plus hours. Then it needed enabelled. Not for the faint hearted.

Your LR garage would be loath to touch it as it's not as per original spec and they wouldn't and couldn't enabel it. It would void your warranty if anything screwed up on your Infortainment or associated electrical system! I presume your FL has an Infortainment system, if not, then it's a non starter from the outset unless you start dismantelling the satnav and soldering circuit boards etc to it.

Don't think your dealer is trying to put you off, just being honest Probably better to get a stand alone one for the occasions you need it in honesty.

Contact: countyalarms.co.uk
They are in Barrowford near Nelson Lancs.
I have also used them for the fitting of a mi-witness in car camera system and can wholeheartedly recommend them for anything associated with vehicle electrics Thumbs Up One Discovery, gone
