We have two Freelanders in the family (both 09/10 regs) and both have started rusting around the welds on those horizontal chassis legs, so you're not alone! I suspect its caused by stones etc being thrown up off the road. Why LR didn't put something better and more durable than 'chassis black' on the chassis to protect it in that area I dont know! Consequently both cars have had a liberal coating of Waxoyl on these 'legs' and hopefully that will suffice! |

I did both cars myself, just a gentle brush with a soft wire brush to remove any loose paint and dirt and then applied the waxoyl. I have to say though with both F2’s only 18months old I didn't expect to see rust on either of them yet, particularly as both are pressure washed (including the underbody and wheel arches) each week! |

Everything seems to be more or less ok up to 3 years then it all goes to pot, time to buy another new one. |

I shall be getting out the Waxoyl as well! I have always Waxoyled my Land Rovers every year and never had an issue with rot on any of them. John
