The bit I don't like is that when the D3/FFRR/Freelander 2 came out, they were distinctive. They were classy, and have aged well.
Then when Geoff Upex left the design team, it's all gone bling bling. Which is great for WAG's and exec's who haven't got a clue and think that something is crap if it hasn't got LED's on the front, isn't painted white, and isn't the fastest car in its class. The D3 wasn't as quick as the Q7 or X5, shamlessly sported black plastic trim around the wheel arches and the wheels 'only' went up to 19's...which the now the smallest you can have on a D4. The new RR will be available with 22's! But the D3 sold to honest people. And Land Rover are now pushing them aside.
Unfortunately, this is where the money is nowadays. Instead of making understressed, unique looking cars, all we have now is Audi wannabe's with an LR badge on the front. Which is a crying shame Mine: 2012 Golf GTI Edition 35
