Never had a moments trouble with the sensors on the car until I got home tonight. A nice thick fog bank had descended and as soon as I put it into reverse, the sensors went nuts. One loud continuous tone was heard.

normally caused by big blobs of water on sensors, rain or fog, try a bit of polish on them to repel water, there is not an easy cure At work |

In the early days parking sensors were prone to go off if they were wet and the moisture in the air associated with fog may have been enough to set them off. Alternatively you may have picked up mud or something else on one of the sensors which could set it off.

ooh, can they be turned off? I hate that paranoia when driving offroad that I am about to wreck my back end when its only a blade of grass! |

They can on the XS and HSE due to having front sensors and there being a button to activate or deactivate the front one's as and when needed. This has the added bonus of switching them off whilst reversing. My uncle has a GS model and there is no button that I could see on the dash but perhaps the layout is different and I missed it.... 60 plate SD4 XS, Stornoway Grey, Arm rest pack http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ly--gT1RJdk |
