Never had a moments trouble with the sensors on the car until I got home tonight. A nice thick fog bank had descended and as soon as I put it into reverse, the sensors went nuts. One loud continuous tone was heard.

I switched them off and reversed until close to the front door and switched them on again. It beeped like mad at first but when I got close enough it beeped as normal until I put it into D again and then it went nuts!

Could the fog be responsible? 60 plate SD4 XS, Stornoway Grey, Arm rest pack

normally caused by big blobs of water on sensors, rain or fog, try a bit of polish on them to repel water, there is not an easy cure At work

In the early days parking sensors were prone to go off if they were wet and the moisture in the air associated with fog may have been enough to set them off. Alternatively you may have picked up mud or something else on one of the sensors which could set it off.

Easiest way to check them is to thoroughly dry them off and see if that makes a difference.

Was out in mine today and had no problems so doubt it is a general problem on recent Freelanders.

I will duly dry out the sensors tomorrow. Going to turn very cold at the weekend and into next week apparently with some good frosts. Winter tyres are being fitted Saturday which is good timing  60 plate SD4 XS, Stornoway Grey, Arm rest pack

Happened to mine the other week, just rubbed over the sensors with my fingure and all was ok!

ooh, can they be turned off? I hate that paranoia when driving offroad that I am about to wreck my back end when its only a blade of grass!
