should last a lot longer than that. diesel that I buy for tractors can sit in the farm tank for months over winter never any problems |

Have used DERVE that was 9 years old in a 1998 Astra with out problems, but it was in a metal tank. Checked with oil depo first and they said it should be ok. usual disclaimers, no guarntees that it will worrk ok in a modern car with tighter tolerances.etc. |

I think it would pay to give a can that has been stored for a long time a really good shake up to ensure that if anything has settled out is mixed back in, although it would pay to check that there isn't any water at the bottom of the can first which is pretty difficult unless you have water filling paste or an interface detector. This assumes that your can is a suitable size to shake up - 1000ltr tanks are a bit difficult to shake up!! How can carbon have a footprint, it has no feet?

Maybe another approach would be to always use your spare diesel every 6 - 12 months and fill your spare tank again. Perhaps that's what you do already though! |

Exactly ![]() I got my FL2 about 1 month ago - and dreamed about driving thru' Sweden & Norway up to Stavanger where I have a friend - hence taking some spare diesel ! (Plus - it's always useful to have some spare in the garage for an emergency). Anyway - I go skiing shortly to France & then Italy - so I'll use it then ![]() ![]() |

We are worried about being snowed in here in Surrey so I have 60 litres in cans ............ for the deisel generator for when the power goes. I tip it into the FL once in awhile. Probably best to fill the cans in the winter on the basis that anti waxing is added to forecourt fuel in winter . . . . .. . Is it?
