2009 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto Zermatt Silver

Chatted with a (another) very decent LR dealer today. He advised me to wait and watch FL2 trade-ins over the next couple of weeks, due to new reg.

I'm opting for - (example but with lower mileage: http://www.harwoods.uk.com/used-cars/3768/...elander-2)

SD4
Auto
Silver with privacy glass looks good to me.
full (HSE) or half leather (XS). XS seems to represent better vfm.
Sat nav (mixed feelings about this due to reading several forum threads, so could take it or leave it)
Heated front screen? Lived this long without one, so unless it's part of the package, not an issue.

It's going to be used mainly for local journeys, interspersed with occasional trips and most probably less than 10k a year, which is why i'd prefer to start with a car with lower mileage.

Thoughts welcome. Whereabouts unknown stop going to follow stream until reach civilisation stop message ends

My current car (Merc-Benz C220 cdi) was first registered in Feb. 2011. New it would have cost around £32k. Dealer I bought it from recently offered £15k for it. 18mths, £17k depreciation. Not pretty but a very good reason to buy a used Merc-Benz, which is still under original mfrs warranty, has 11k on the clock, not a scratch on it and which runs perfectly at around 55mpg. Whereabouts unknown stop going to follow stream until reach civilisation stop message ends

2009 Freelander 2 TD4 XS Manual Zermatt Silver

Depreciation of new cars is phenominal for all makes. Some are better, some worse but none are good!
The general advice is buy stock, you get Censored all for the majority of extras no matter what 'patter' you get at trade in.

My Landrover experience was getting a FL2 when JLR were in the smelly stuff in early 2009. I paid ~21,800 for a £26,500 car (XS + Metallic). I've just PX at £13k at the dealer 3.5 years and 35k miles later. We buy any car and Mercedes offered exactly the same which tells you something!

So I got ~50% after 3 years on list and 60% on actuals New: Freelander2 GS 62 plate (MY13) - Santorini Black with Clearview & Front PDC
Old: Freelander2 XS 09 Plate - Zermatt Silver with ST3 remap (eco map), Garmin 1490T Sat Nav, Rear Seat Entertainment kit

United Kingdom 2013 Freelander 2 SD4 GS Auto Aintree Green

Always worth remembering LR residuals are seasonal...buy in the summer and sell in the depths of winter to get the best.
