just a question.. i own a MY10 TD4-e diesel 2.2 Freelander.
today taking the engine / noise plastic cover off, I noticed that behind the common rail injector bar (looking from the front), the (intake manifold ??) is covered with oil mist on the left hand side of it. (it looks like a manifold as it runs behind the common rail bar for the length of it)

Sorry for my bad description.

there seems to be no oil leaks on the floor, but the engine on the left hand side is pretty much covered in oil mist.

Question: does someone know what it is... has anybody experienced the same ?
should i have it seen to ?

A common issue. I think there is a thread somewhere on here about it. The oil mist comes from the joint in the induction pipework which is after the crankcase vent joins it. Some people go for changing the seal in the joint whereas the rest of us just give it a quick clean from time to time. Having said that mine does not do it much. John
