I fitted a dummy shark fin, looked good, also the small program is called 'gpsfix', speeds up finding the satellites, mine was updated a couple of times a year and worked perfectly even through the heated screen

Just put my tom tom in and it looks great. One complaint about the instructions I spent ten minutes trying to figure out were the two spare torx screws went when refitting the dash. I always have this problem when stripping something down and putting it back together, you always end up with a handful of screws and springs. Finally worked out they were from the cubby hole now not needed. Thanks for all the info. |

I'm fairly sure the screws were mentioned somewhere - but it's quite a long thread now! Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone

Hi Same here. I bought mine yesterday and downloaded my drive but no option to customize your sat nav. Emailed tomtom who replied that its not available. |

Hi all, this has been such a useful thread, thank you so much - thought I should share experience in return... due to lack of logo option went for old style Start 60, second hand only now, from ebay 50 quid with UK maps. Then updated software and put European camper and caravan maps on it (another 40 pounds, from Tomtom) which also gave me latest speed cameras. Then added a TMC traffic lead for 19 pounds from aliexpress - it was the 4UUC5B (4UUC.001.05B), 5V 1.2A Micro USB Car Charger - and it works very well (in Kent) TMC just placed unfixed in the speaker hole under the cover mesh (do remove sponge from hole). I added logos and landrover icon from earlier posts. Installation was very easy. Best with a small to medium flat blade screwdriver covered with a sock. Just three clips, the left and right ones are quite high up on either side. Once one has popped the others will come. I went for double sided foam (in a roll, £1 from poundland) cut into thin strips round the hole and backed up with cable ties which could be fixed to existing fittings on the moulded plastic surround. Then wedged some sponge/packing foam between the ties and the tomtom to keep it firm. Worked very nicely. Currently I have run the TMC lead out to the existing cigarette lighter for power, still waiting for the new socket and fuse wire to come (few quid from ebay hong kong). So all in 115 quid for built in, latest, European caravan towing gps with speed cameras and traffic info. Brilliant. I haven't had the courage to sand off the tomtom logo yet, thought it might make it look really bad - has anyone successfully done that?

Just fitted a simple disc to the top side of the Cubby Box and then stuck the Magnetic Holder to it.

You can reach the power button (just) by removing the little rubber tray beneath the cubbyhole - the tray just lifts out. This reveals a hole through which your little finger can reach the button at the rear of the TomTom. I've only had to do it a couple of times in 18 months. |
