roads floods and clutch slip

Hi all.

Today we had mad road floods on the way home from work.

So to get home i had to go through deep water by a car standard but not a freelander 2 standard. By the time i got home the clutch would slip over 2000rpm but its never done it before.

Now i know no one likes the manual but im worried now some damage is done.
Should it do this after being through water?
Has it happened before to anyone?
Will be be okay and dryout?
Have i damaged it?

Graeme

Perhaps it aggravated an imminent issue with the clutch. I have had the same driving conditions many times and had no such problems.

Could always ring LR for their opinion Thumbs Up LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

Well brakes are no good just after they have been soaked with water until they heat up and dry off, same with a clutch I should think.
The bell housing isnt guaranteed waterproof so it could temporarily fill with some water if you went through some deep enough.

I think it best to drive it dry and see what happens - if you haven't driven in deep water you don't know what to expect...! 2002 Honda VFR800

How deep is 'Deep'.....?

I think the recommended do not go beyond depth is lower than you think - may invalidate your claim on warranty if you have strayed beyond that.

Be careful what you admit to if you do take it to the dealers. They ain't a charity...

Thanks for the replies.

Everything okay this morning, no slip, funny smells or weird noises. To be sure i'm going to call Team Valley Land rover later for there opinion.

What i was going through was just over the side steps which are about 30cm i think, i'll measure tonight.

Graeme
