Mr Crabtree I trust you won't object to my comments below:

It's a good job Aaron is not in a Swiss hospital at the moment. Despite having the world's second most expensive private health care system oncology units are having to ration drugs due to a dispute with the pharmaceutical manufacturers of these vital medicines which are developed and manufactured here in Switzerland. As usual in this country it is all about money and not patient care. Price dispute now 2 months in the running and no end in sight.

The system went private in 1966 - there's now a growing call for it to revert back to a national provider - guess whose against that motion. Yes, all the hospitals, the pharma Co's and the health care insurance companies; i.e. those who make the most money out of sick people. Only last week the insurance companies wanted to end the freedom folks have to choose which Doctor they wished to have as their GP - they said on cost grounds but in reality it meant that the insurance Co's could dictate the fee received by the Doctors and by doing so pocket more of Joe Public's premiums for themselves.

My advice to folks back in Blighty - do whatever you can to ensure that the NHS stays an open access provider to all those in need, and not, open only to those who are fortunate enough to be able to pay. Campaign against the creeping privatisation of the NHS by the current administration, which by its current action of reducing budgets (whilst doing nothing about corporate greed and tax evasion - that's a "Diamond" in their Coalition crown) does not enable funds to be made available to introduce alternative palliative therapies.

Bump - CHARITY AUCTION -

Just to keep the auction at the top of each thread page

Ok here is the Deal, I won a £100 voucher donated By James at Park Royal when we had the Clay Shoot at Coniston, I can not morally accept it as I was many years ago a ( very poor) competition shooter. I have told James that I want to auction the prize to support the charity below in which Mr Crabtree is involved. On hearing this James ( top bloke) has now upped the Prize to a £100 voucher which can be used for LandRover accessories/LandRover Gear etc from Lookers Park Royal + a Half Day voucher for LandRover Experience at any centre.
http://www.landrover.com/gb/en/lr/experien.../overview/

Thats right one bid gets you the £100 Voucher and 1/2 a day at any LandRover Experience Centre in any LandRover vehicle

The charity event website you willl be supporting is

www.top-to-bottom-tractor-run.co.uk

all funds will be going to the Young Oncology Unit at The Christie

How it works. You make one blind/sealed bid by sending me a PM with your best offer - just one shot at it, auction opens now : and closes in 10 days time at 20:00 on Wednesday 4th July. the time and date on your PM is the time and date of your bid

so no e-bay tactics just one bid for what you think is a fair price for the total package reserve is set at £80 so lets all be reasonable. Please bid in whole pounds. If two or more people make an equal bid the first bid received will be deemed to be the winner

the winning bidder is notified and either pays me by cheque or paypal gift ( No sending charge i will pay the receiving charge if applicable) so you can even get this on your credit card

when the payment is clear I notify James at Park Royal with your details and you contact him to get the £ 100 voucher and Experience ticket ( Fantastic day out worth £195 if you buy it direct from a centre) which allows you and two guests to share the 1/2 day.

As a higher rate tax payer I will then make a " Gift Aid payment" to the charity in my name so every penny received goes to them, plus the benefit of tax relief as well ! so every body wins and we do the government into the bargain!

To keep things open I will publish on the site the winning bidders site name and winning bid ( unless they want to keep a low profile) and I will ask Mr crabtree to post and verify that a gift aid payment has been made.

Please moderators If I have broken any site rules help me out, this is for a good cause

a couple of months back the private health insurers my employer uses tried to direct me to a doctor and clinic of their choice, (no doubt based on cost not my convenience) this was based on the suggestions of a young lady who said she was my case " specialist " I asked if she was a colonoscopy specialist making a medical referal ? she said no "a claims handling specialist" , so I told her I would contact her when I had crashed my car, and in the end she aproved the doctor and clinic i wanted ! 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

Charity Auction Update

well, I'm amazed we still only have two bidders ( excellent as they both are).

With the number of people who buy LR accessories on this site The £100 Voucher is a no lose situation, and in fact James has promised free delivery of accessories bought using it.
and the LR Experience, well not everybody is lucky enough to get one by buying a new car, and they are actually sold on the " Items for Sale " section of this site, swapping hands for a reasonable sum of money so I would have thought this was a great option !

If you have not been on a 1/2 day experience they are great, any LR you want with you and 2 guests and a professional instructor giving you road and off road driving ! go on you know you want to drive a RR HSE Thumbs Up 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

OK, Day 6 of the auction and just over 22 hours to run. Still only two bids which is great thankyou, and it is certain that something wil be going to the charity championed by Mr Crabtree.

So is anybody going to throw their hat into the ring.

You can pay however you want, you can make the winning bid donation directly if that's what you want to do( I'll just give you a few words to make sure Looker Park Royal get some recognition), and it's win win if you are in the market for some accessories at the moment as you get free delivery as well !

The winning bid will be published tomorrow night , and to follow a thank you to all participants, so John ( Mr C) and James (LPR) expect a pm ! 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership
