Air conditioning

Earlier today I decided to check the temperature of my air con, and upon doing so the temperature coming out was 9'c. Quite warm I thought, it was only checked before I bought it less than 2 years ago.

So I popped down to ATS, they popped the machine on and checked it all. The chap said it was quite alot out on the machine, so re-gas it, for just £35. You would not think in 2 years it would change in pressure. But is defo worth getting your car checked(depending on age of car) if you like it like a freezer like I does!

Did the re-gas make a noticable difference? Sometimes I don't think mine is blowing particularly cold. Poke it, Poke it, make it do it again!!

She only has one thing to moan about? You're doing well! I wish mine was like that Razz 1st time FL2 owner. 2007 SE i6 in Tambora Flame.

Apparently the air con refridgerent can leak past the compressor seals over time, this is most likely in the colder winter weather when the air con might not be used for a long time, they say its best to switch it on every few days for a few minutes to keep the seals in good condition?

Best never to switch it off. In the winter it helps to speed up the defrost in conjunction with the heated screen.

You should only need a recharge of refrigerant if you are unlucky enough to experience a gas leak.
Let's face it; how many of us recharge our domestic refrigerators and freezers?
Vibrational problems are the usual enemy on a car's pipework, causing stress fractures, hence the yellow dye that is normally injected by the 'trouble-shooter' to find the fault. Unfortunately, a leak is very often found in the evaporator or condenser matrices, which, more often than not, are not immediately visible.
BTW landy19840, 9degC is relatively cool, so I am not sure what you mean exactly.

Why did you pay 35 quid and not get it done free under warranty?
I assume we are talking about your FL.
Or are we? Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

Warranty ran out some years ago!! And it's unlikely land rover would do it under warranty unless there's a fault!

my aircon isn't getting as cold as i think it was last time it was hot.

Got them to check it when its in for service in a couple of weeks, but they seems to say a top up was not covered unless there was a leak and they charge £99 for a recharge, as aircon does occasionally require a top up

Is this correct Question

Does any one know of any offers on at the moment anywhere?

Kwik fit or ATS usually have something on, or local garages

I had my disco done at Kwik fit, they measure temp before they do any thing then the machine sucks out the oil and the gas then tests for leaks then replaces them both, afterwards they measure temp all done for £45
